Introduced to turntables at a summer school program in his former hometown, San Rafael, CA, Jay picked up the art of mixing music but was limited to tapes and radio mixes which he used to record on his mother’s boombox in his free time. In 1999, Jay relocated to Vallejo where he picked up on the underground local hip hop from local legends (Mac Dre, E-40, Celly Cell, Mac Mall). Jay decided to take DJing seriously and sold his car and most of his belongings to buy a DJ system so he could start DJing weddings, house parties, and corporate events.
2008 was a busy year for Jay, finally taking the next step in his DJ career – nightclubs! In 2009, Jay made his debut as DJ Jay Em at San Francisco’s #1 Latin party, Azucar, inside Glasskat (The Grand). He quickly became known as a versatile DJ because of his ability to blend multi-genre club bangers with a Latin twist and rock San Francisco crowds every Friday alongside Radio Personality, Big Sal Pachino.
The following year Jay’s DJ career elevated as he DJed at the hottest spots in The City, including concerts.
Over the years, Jay has evolved just like the art of DJing. Now knows as DJ Jay Fresco, you can find him every Saturday at his residency inside 1015 Folsom (PURA), Remys in Santa Rosa on the first Friday of the month, and inside some of the best venues in The Bay Area.
Catch him during the Late Night Street Mix on Friday and Saturday nights
